How to use COT Analyser

Components of COT Analyser chart

COT Analyser chart consists of 4 areas as follows.

  1. Products selection area … You can choose a market product you would like to analyze from this menu.
  2. Chart Setting area … You can choose indicators and set parameters for analysis. Please see below for details.
  3. Price chart area … This shows weekly price chart of the market product you choose.
  4. Indicator area … This shows traders’ positions and indicators you choose in Chart Setting

  1. COT data type… You can choose either “Future Only” or “Future and Options”
  2. COT net positions by type of traders… The net positions of traders you choose from here will be shown in the chart area
  3. Open Interest … If you check this box, total open interest will be shown in the chart area
  4. Indicators for analysis… The indicator you choose from here will be shown in the chart area. You can choose from the following indicators
    • Net Commercial Stochastic (COT Index) = (current net commercial positions – lowest) / (highest – lowest) in the lookback period specified
    • Net Non-Commercial Stochastic = (current net non-commercial positions – lowest) / (highest – lowest) in the lookback period specified
    • Net Retail Stochastic = (current net retail positions – lowest) / (highest – lowest) in the lookback period specified
    • Commercial long / Open Interest
    • Open Interest Stochastic = (current open interest – lowest) / (highest – lowest) in the lookback period specified
  5. Moving average for weekly price chart … You can set moving average parameters for weekly price chart
